BRIEF EXPLANATION

There are two vast expanses of deserts in Iran, the Kavir-e-Lut or the Lut Desert, and Kavir-e-Markazi or the Central Desert, covering an area of over 360,000 square kilometers, mostly located in the central parts of Iran. These vast expanses of sand dunes, salt lakes, and steppe-like plains, wadies with long-dated trees, and camel flocks are one of the world’s most interesting, yet unknown places in the world. Then there is a vast network of caravansaries strategically located along the ancient, camel-trodden trade routes and the scorched salt flats of Kavir-e-Markazi.
Exciting safari tours through majestic landscapes and along these caravan routes have proved to be the most efficient way of enjoying the glorious nature of Iran

ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL TEHRAN
Arrive at Tehran’s IKA airport; meet and transfer to hotel for overnight stay. L/D
DAY 02: TEHRAN – DAMGHAN
Drive to Damghan, passing through Firuzkuh and Semnan, visiting Tarik-Khaneh Mosque in Damghan, Cheshmeh-Ali, the Assassins Castle at Gerdkuh, and Mehman-Doust Tower; overnight stay at hotel. B/L/D   335 km 4 hours
DAY 03: DAMGHAN – GARME
Drive to the Kavir (desert) via Sar-e-Kavir, Jandagh, and Khour; overnight stay at the local house near Khour. B/L/D  365 km 4 hours
DAY 04: GARME-EXCURSION TO MESR VILLAGE
Full-day excursion to Mesr village, Garmeh & light trekking on the sandy hills, overnight stay at local house. B/L/D
DAY 05: GARMEH-NA’IN
Drive to Na’in, en-route visit Chah-e-Kharboze, Anarak Caravanserai; continue the drive to Na’in and visit the 10th century Friday Mosque; overnight stay at hotel. B/L/D   249 km 3 hours
DAY 06: NA’IN – YAZD
Drive to Yazd, the center for Iran’s small Zoroastrian community for a full day sightseeing in the city center and a few important monuments around the city; overnight stay at the hotel. B/L/D 167 km 1/30 hours
DAY 07: YAZD – SHIRAZ
Drive to Shiraz, stop at Abarkuh, a charming desert town, and continue, and visit Pasargadae. On to Shiraz, arrive in the afternoon, visit the main monuments; and overnight stay at the hotel. B/L/D 441 km 5 hours
DAY 08: SHIRAZ/EXCURSION TO PERSEPOLIS & NAGHSH-E-ROSTAM-ISFAHAN
Morning excursion to Persepolis; return to Shiraz for some visits to main sightseeing attractions and the Vakil Bazaar; transfer to airport for flight to Isfahan; overnight stay at hotel. B/L/D
DAY 09: ISFAHAN
Full city tour of the beautiful city of Isfahan, the 17th-century capital of the Safavids, referred to as Nesf-e-Jahan (Half of the World) in Safavid sources, to visit the famous monuments and historical sites ending up in the Qeisarieh Bazaar with hundreds of shops displaying the art and handicrafts for which Isfahan is world-famous, overnight stay at hotel. DAY 10: ISFAHAN-TEHRAN
Morning drive to Tehran, en-route visit the charming town of Natanz and the desert town of Kashan with some of the best examples of existing “badgirs” (wind-catchers); continue to Tehran; overnight stay at hotel. B/L/D 448 km 5 hours
DAY 11: TEHRAN
Full-day visit to some of Tehran’s major museums and panoramic views of main streets (all above museums are closed on Mondays); overnight stay at the hotel. B/L/D
DAY 12: TEHRAN – DEPARTURE
Transfer to IKA airport for departure flight
